INGREDIENTS

  • Rice flour, sieved 1/2 cup
  • Skimmed milk yogurt 8 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Green chilli paste 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger paste1/2 teaspoon
  • Soda bicarbonate 1/2 teaspoon
  • Banana leaves cut into 4 inch squares or circles 8

For stuffing
  • Sprouted Green gram (ankurit moong) 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Black peppercorns, crushed 3-4
  • Red chilli flakes 1/4 teaspoon

Preparation:

 

Take rice flour in a bowl. Add yogurt, salt and mix. Add green chilli paste, ginger paste and mix. Add water as required to adjust batter to a pouring consistency. Add soda bicarbonate and mix. Set aside to ferment for about two hours. Mix all the ingredients for the stuffing together. Heat a non-stick tawa. Take banana leaf pieces. Pour the rice batter on one banana leaf, place the stuffing in the centre and fold into half. Place it on the non-stick tawa and cook. Turn and cook the other side similarly. Serve in the leaf itself.
