Rajma Lite Recipe
For those who live in countries like USA where the kidney beans are available in cans and are pre soaked - you don't need a pressure cooker - here is a simple recipe for very high tasting healthy Rajma (Kidney beans)

PREPARATION TIME : 20 minutes
COOKING TIME : 15 minutes
SERVINGS : 4
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Cans of Red kidney beans (or depending on how much quantity you like)
- 1 Onion - chopped
- Small piece of Ginger chopped (optional)
- Garlic chopped 2-3 cloves
- Tomatoes 3 medium chopped finely
- Cumin powder 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Oil 2 tablespoons
METHOD
- Heat the 2 tablespoon oil in a pan.
- Add the onions - saute for 4 mins - turn so it does not stick to the pan bottom.
- Add ginger and garlic and continue to sauté another 1 min - till the mixture turns slight pink (not dark red - that means its burning)
- Add tomato mix and continue to cook for 5 mins.
- Add all the powders - cumin, garam masala anything else you like turmeric etc.
- Add the beans along with the liquid that it comes in with or if you washed them then add some water.
- Add few pinches of salt - taste the liquid with a spoon and add more salt per taste.
- Lower the heat and simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes on low heat so everything mixes in well.
- Serve hot with any bread, rice or just eat it like that - high protein very low fat - no cholesterol.
