Panchamrutham is offered as prasadam to God in temples and during festivals and pujas. Panchamrutham means the mixture of 5 ambrosias (amrutham) milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee. It tastes heavenly when served fresh or chilled.

PREPARATION TIME : 10 minutes

COOKING TIME : 5 minutes

SERVINGS : 4

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup full cream Cow’s Milk (double toned or pasteurised milk can also be used)
  • 1 tbsp. Curd
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 3 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. ghee
  • 1 ripe Banana, chopped
  • 1 Apple, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chopped dates
  • ½ cup Grapes
  • 4 to 5 Basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp. Cardamom powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp. Saffron (optional)

METHOD:

  • Mix well milk, curd, ghee, sugar and honey, in a clean vessel
  • Add cardamom powder and saffron and mix well
  • Add all chopped fruits and basil and again mix everything together
  • Refrigerate till serving and serve cold or can also be served fresh as soon as prepared.
