Fish in Banana Leaves Recipe 

 

Fish in Banana Leaves

Preparation Time : 15 minutes


Cooking Time : 10-12 minutes


Servings : 4

INGREDIENTS
  • King fish (surmai) fillets, large chunks 8
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice 4 tablespoons

 

  • Coconut, scraped 1/2 cup
  • Green chillies, chopped 4
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped 1 cup
  • Garlic 6-8 cloves
  • Cumin seeds 3 teaspoons
  • Banana leaves 3-4

METHOD

Sprinkle lemon juice and salt on the fish chunks and marinate for fifteen minutes. Grind together coconut, green chillies, coriander leaves, garlic and cumin seeds to a fine paste. Keep each fish piece on a piece of banana leaf, spread green chutney on both sides and fold the leaf over the fish to make a parcel. Heat water in a steamer. Keep the fish parcel in the steamer and steam for five to seven minutes. Serve hot.
