Ingredients For Coconut Curd Salad Recipe :
  • grated fresh coconut :     3 / 4 tablespoons
  • green chillis :     4
  • A piece of fresh gin :     (1 cm/ ½ in)
  • Coriander (Chinese parsley) leaves, chopped (to garnish) :     1 bunch
  • fresh plain yogurt :     1 cup
  • Salt to taste :    
  • oil :     1½ teaspoons
  • Brown mustard seeds :     1 teaspoon
  • Bengal gram dal (yellow split peas, chana dal), picked over and rinsed :     1 teaspoon
  • black gram dal (washed urad dal), picked over and rinsed :     ½ teaspoon
  • cumin seeds :     ¼ teaspoon
  • asafetida powder :     ¼ teaspoon
  • red chilli (chili pepper), halved :     1
  • A few curry leaves :    

Preparation Method for Coconut Curd Salad Recipe :

  • Place the grated coconut, green chillies, finely chopped ginger, and some of the coriander leaves in an electric blender or food processor. Blend ingredients to a fine paste. Add to the yogurt and mix thoroughly. Add salt to taste. Set aside.
  • Tempering: Heat 1½ teaspoons oil in a heavy frying pan or skillet. Add the mustard seeds,Bengal gram dal,black gram dal,cumin seeds, halved red chilli, asafetida powder, and a few curry leaves.
  • When the mustard seeds splutter and the dal turn golden,add this mixture to the salad.
  • Garnish the salad with the rest of the chopped coriander leaves. Serve cold or at room temperature.
