Bhapa Ilish Recipe
Bhapa Ilish is a popular Bengali dish in Kolkata. It is a tasty fish preparation which is made from Hilsa fish called Ilish in Bengali.

INGREDIENTS :
- Hilsa (ilish) 1 kilogram
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
- Yellow mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
- Green chillies 2-3
- Ginger 1 inch piece
- Mustard oil 3 tablespoons
METHOD
- Clean and wash the fish thoroughly.
- Cut in required shapes and sprinkle salt and turmeric powder(1/2 teaspoon) to it.
- Grind thoroughly and make paste of yellow mustard seeds, black mustard seeds, green chillies, ginger and salt.
- In a pressure cooker, add three cups of water and place a ring in it.
- Now, in a pan place the fish and put it on the ring in the pressure cooker.
- Mix remaining turmeric powder to prepared paste and apply thoroughly on fish.
- Pour a little mustard oil on top.
- Close the lid of cooker and steam it for eight to ten minutes.
- Serve hot.
