Ingredients For Bean Dal Poriyal Recipe :
  • red gram dal (pigeon peas, toor dal), picked over and rinsed :     1 cup
  • water :     3 cups
  • red chillies (chili peppers) salt to taste :     4-5
  • teaspoon asafetida :     ½
  • green or string beans, finely chopped :     500g
  • A little water :    
  • oil :     2 tablespoons
  • brown mustard seeds :     1 teaspoon
  • Bengal gram dal (yellow split peas, chana dal), picked over and rinsed :     1 teaspoon
  • black gram dal (washed urad dal), picked over and rinsed :     1 teaspoon
  • red chilli (chili pepper), halved :     1
  • cumin seeds :     ½ teaspoon
  • A few curry leaves :    

Preparation Method for Bean Dal Poriyal Recipe :

  • Soak the red gram dal and the red chillies in 3 cups water for 1 hour. Drain off water. Drain off water. Place dal and red chillies in an electric blender or food processor. Add salt to taste and asafetida powder. Blend ingredients to a smooth paste. Set aside.
